Ubiwhere is now part of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI)

Ubiwhere

The European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) has only 4 Portuguese entities and Ubiwhere is one of them!

With around 800 members all over the world, ETSI is an organization that produces European standards in the telecommunications sector, including standardization activities for Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), and also for television and sound broadcasting sectors. With entities from about 70 different countries, the ETSI members are reference companies in the area, such as network operators and service providers, among other small companies, universities and also R&D organizations, defining technological standards on which the sector relies.

Based in Sophia Antipolis, France, ETSI is operating since 1998. The Institute is recognized by the European Union as a European Standards Organization and its purpose is to improve the future and life for the next generation. The main goal of ETSI is to work together with all the partners in the standardization process, in order to produce the best standards in telecommunications sector based on the real needs of the European market.

In Portugal, there are only 4 members of ETSI and it is with great satisfaction that, today, we announce that Ubiwhere is one of them. Ubiwhere joins PT Portugal, ANACOM and Apple Portugal, as a Full Member of ETSI.

Joining ETSI is a significant step for Ubiwhere. The technological company can now contribute to the industry with its R&D results in the format of specification. As a business enabler, this will encourage the sharing of know-how and perspectives with major companies in the telecommunications area, opening new communication channels and business opportunities.
