Urban mobility under discussion: Ubiwhere participates in the workshop ‘Data in Transit’
The IMT – Institute for Mobility and Transport, in partnership with BGI/EIT Urban Mobility and the Famalicão City Council, is organising the workshop ‘Data in Transit: Indicators for Sustainable Urban Mobility’ on the 26th of November. The event will take place in the Casa do Território Auditorium in Vila Nova de Famalicão, bringing together public entities, technology companies and industry experts to discuss the role of data in transforming urban mobility. Ubiwhere will be one of the entities present at this initiative.
The workshop ‘Data in Transit’, with the theme ‘Indicators for Sustainable Urban Mobility’, aims to present examples and best practices in the use of mobility and transport data, focusing on urban mobility indicators and how Portuguese city councils and companies are using this data to optimise urban planning, reduce congestion and promote more sustainable transport solutions.
Among the guest speakers is Nuno Ribeiro, co-CEO of Ubiwhere, who will be part of Panel 2 – “Mobility Observatories: Practical Examples”. His presentation will explore how urban management platforms can support cities and territories in decision-making by offering an integrated, intelligent, real-time view of how people and vehicles move around the territory. Based on open, fully interoperable standards, the platform consolidates data from multiple sources, including IoT traffic and parking sensors, municipal transport systems, mobility operators, and government entities (IMT, ANSR, IP, INE, etc.). It integrates GIS data, transforming them into Urban Intelligence.
Other experts will join Nuno Ribeiro, with recognised experience in the sector, including Isabel Oliveira from AMT, Luís Martins from Fundo de Transportes, and Vítor Moreira, representative of the Vila Nova de Famalicão City Council. Together, the participants will present real cases, working methodologies, and results from mobility observatories implemented across different regions of the country.
