The Alfândega Congress Centre will host the 6th edition of the Gaia-X Summit from the 20th to the 21st of November. This event will be organised in partnership with Gaia-X Hub Portugal, TICE.PT and Porto Digital. Ubiwhere, as leader of the Gaia-X Portugal Smart Communities Working Group, will be one of the entities attending this initiative, whose theme this year is ‘Digital Ecosystems in Action’.

After Helsinki in 2024, the Gaia-X Summit 2025, organised by TICE.PT in partnership with Porto Digital, will take place in Oporto and aims to highlight real implementations of data spaces, as well as explore how trusted digital ecosystems are shaping the future of AI, interoperability and collaboration.

This annual meeting will bring together European leaders in digital innovation, government representatives, researchers and technology companies to discuss the future of data infrastructure in Europe. The opening session will be attended by the Secretary of State for Digitalisation, Bernardo Correia, the Chairwoman of Gaia-X and Executive Vice-President of Digital & Information Management at Airbus, Catherine Jestin, the CEO of Gaia-X, Ulrich Ahle, and the Director of TICE.PT, Vasco Lagarto, who will kick off two days of debates, demonstrations and networking.

The programme includes presentations of pioneering projects and panels on ethics and the regulation of artificial intelligence. In addition, there will be demonstrations of use cases in the areas of health, mobility, energy and public administration. One of the highlights of the programme will be the presentation of Gaia-X Trust Framework 3.0 - Release ‘Danube’, presented by Christoph Strnadl, CTO of Gaia-X, and Roland Fadrany, COO of Gaia-X.

For Ubiwhere, the event will be the stage for the release of the Position Paper: ‘From Data-Centred to Data-Driven: Gaia-X and the Architecture of Smart Public Administration - Position paper for the domains of geoinformation, the public sector, and smart cities and regions of Gaia-X Hub Portugal’, a collaborative work between Ubiwhere, CCG/ZGDV Institute, IoTech and IPT. In addition, Ubiwhere, as part of the Gaia-X Portugal Hub, namely as leader of the Smart Communities working group, will participate in the GAIA-X Summit 2025 to strengthen its role as a leading player in data-based connectivity solutions, as well as in research into Beyond 5G and 6G, data and AI. Finally, Ubiwhere intends to strengthen partnerships, secure evidence for research projects, identify future partners and reinforce the company’s position in the sector. Ubiwhere’s participation will also be guided by the dissemination of its research and development projects, such as Teadal, NebulOuS, 6G-TWIN, 6G-Cloud, Route 25, ATT and MLSysOps.

Entry to the event is free and open to all interested parties, but prior registration is required.
