The University of Aveiro welcomes a new technological and innovative space designed by Ubiwhere

Ubiwhere

The Connected Intelligence Open Lab, by Ubiwhere is the new technological space inaugurated by Ubiwhere in the Department of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics (DETI) at the University of Aveiro.

Conceived by Ubiwhere in collaboration with the University of Aveiro, this space aims to be a place for experimentation and development in Technology, Connectivity and Urban Intelligence, with the mission of leveraging partnerships between academia and the technological cluster that allow the generation of data and intelligence for cities, in a logic of connectivity and interoperability.

The inauguration of Connected Intelligence Open Lab, by Ubiwhere took place at the Department of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics (DETI) on June 15 at 2:30 pm. It was attended by the Rector of the University of Aveiro, Paulo Jorge Ferreira, Director of DETI, Nuno Borges de Carvalho, and the CEO’s of Ubiwhere, Rui A. Costa and Nuno Ribeiro.

In the words of the Rector of the University of Aveiro, this new technology space will be a great contribution to a perfect union between the higher education institution and the business fabric. Through “solid and rigorous training” given by the department to students and with the support of this new Ubiwhere space that will generate “reciprocal trust”, it will be possible to bring the university environment and the job market together in the same place.

The Connected Intelligence Open Lab, by Ubiwhere aims to lower entry barriers for new developers, students, researchers or startups who want to test applications using an end-to-end 5G environment. For this purpose, this new technological space at the University of Aveiro is compatible with OpenRAN. It also has an instance of a 5G core to enable testing applications that use this technology.
