Celebrating World IoT Day: Ubiwhere took part in the O-CEI Horizon Project Implementation Committee Meeting

The Implementation Committee Meeting for the O-CEI Project - OpenCloudEdgeIoT Platform Uptake in Large Scale Cross-Domain Pilots - took place in Paris on the 8th and 9th of April. This initiative, which took place on World Internet of Things Day, was attended and participated in by Ubiwhere, one of the leaders of a WorkPackage and a member of the project consortium.
The O-CEI project seeks a more sustainable and resilient Cloud-Edge-IoT (CEI) ecosystem to promote a smoother transition to a cleaner energy future. This aims to facilitate data sharing between domains, reduce energy consumption, promote multilateral markets and advance open standards for virtualisation and interoperability. The O-CEI project seeks to empower key industries to optimise resource use, reduce environmental impact and drive Europe’s transition to a greener, more efficient energy landscape. The O-CEI project’s mission is to drive the rapid adoption and expansion of cutting-edge solutions for energy optimisation, increasing Europe’s competitiveness and enabling strategic autonomy.
Two members of our team - Carolina Viceto and Hugo Martins - represented Ubiwhere, accompanied every moment of this meeting and contributed to its development and success.
The Project Implementation Committee meeting helped define how the O-CEI platform will impact real-world Europe. Discussions focused on various topics, such as the expected results and impact of the use cases, the technical requirements for the pilot projects, standardisation and interoperability, contributions to open source, and the project’s impact.
So far, the O-CEI project includes eight pilot projects covering sectors such as Energy, Mobility, Agri-food, Logistics, Cities, and Telecommunications. It is also building an open, federated Cloud-Edge-IoT platform that seeks to boost energy flexibility.
