Ubiwhere was present at SynchroniCity kick-off meeting, in Brussels
Last month, Ubiwhere’s smart cities team travelled to Brussels for the SynchroniCity kick-off meeting. Synchronicity is a large-scale pilot project in the IoT area, involving 35 partners from 11 different countries. At the event, which was held at the Fondation Universitaire, representatives of several European cities of reference in the smart cities area were present, such as Porto, Manchester, Helsinki or Santander; and also industry partners, such as Philips, Telefonica, ATOS and Engineering, among other reference partners in the project.
SynchroniCity represents the first attempt to deliver a Single Digital City Market for Europe by piloting its foundations at scale in 11 reference zones - 8 European cities & 3 more worldwide cities. Building upon a mature European knowledge base derived from initiatives such as OASC, FIWARE, FIRE, EIPSCC, and including partners with leading roles in standardization bodies, e.g. ITU, ETSI, IEEE, OMA, IETF, SynchroniCity will deliver a harmonized ecosystem for IoT-enabled smart city solutions where IoT device manufacturers, system integrators and solution providers can innovate and openly compete. With an already emerging foundation, SynchroniCity will establish a reference architecture for the envisioned IoT-enabled city market place with identified interoperability points and interfaces and data models for different verticals.
The main objective of this visit was to meet all the partners involved in this project and to give a general overview of the project, defining the main action points for the coming months. For Ubiwhere, it has been a pleasure to be part of all the European projects we’ve been part of. This is another one, in the smart cities sector, that we believe that will be a huge success.
