Ubiwhere develops an integrated system for forest management

The partnership between Ubiwhere and Forestis led to the creation of the Integrated Forest Management System (SGIF), an innovative digital solution designed to modernise and optimise forest management within the Forestis ecosystem.

This project emerged from the need to replace the previous ForgestWeb platform with a more robust, interoperable solution, better prepared to address current challenges in the sustainable management of forest territories.

With the implementation of SGIF, forest management has been significantly optimised. The integration of cadastral, geographic, and forest planning data has become more efficient and accurate, thereby improving decision-making, strengthening forest certification, and enhancing sustainable management practices. SGIF represents a disruptive technological evolution by integrating into a broader digital ecosystem, enabling automated data consultation and updates from multiple sources.

In addition to replicating the previous platform’s functionality, the system introduces significant advances, including interoperability with other systems and process simplification. Of particular note is the automated integration of data from the Direção-Geral do Território (DGT), which eliminates manual processes, reduces costs, and minimises errors, thereby allowing Forest Producer Organisations to focus their resources on higher-value-added activities. The solution supports the management of more than 277,000 hectares of forest area, establishing itself as an essential tool for producers, forestry entrepreneurs and organisations with micro, small and medium-sized enterprise profiles.

The development of the Integrated Forest Management System by Ubiwhere for Forestis represents a decisive step in the digital transformation of Portugal’s forestry sector. By combining automation, interoperability and integrated data management, SGIF enhances operational efficiency and promotes more sustainable forest management practices.
