Integrated digitalisation of maritime tourism in Ria Formosa

The partnership between Ubiwhere and ANIMARIS led to an ambitious digitalisation project to modernise and centralise the management of maritime, tourism, transport, catering, and beach service operations in the Ria Formosa.

This initiative emerged from the need to align ANIMARIS’ operations with best practices in technological innovation, operational sustainability and continuous improvement of the customer experience.

 

 

The project led to the implementation of a comprehensive digital ecosystem to enhance internal efficiency and the user experience. At the core of the solution is an Operational Management Platform that integrates a robust back office, interoperability with billing systems and online booking platforms (OTAs), and an open data integration module, enabling more informed and efficient operational management. A public web portal and two mobile applications were also developed and launched: the Skipper App, intended for internal use by crews, with features supporting on-the-ground operations, and the Client App, designed for customers to facilitate bookings, access services, and enhance the overall visitor experience.

 

The project also included enhancing strategic ANIMARIS locations, such as the Estaminé restaurant, Barreta Beach, and Santa Maria Petiscaria, to promote more efficient management, optimise regular operations—including Hop-On Hop-Off models and ecological routes—and create new business opportunities through an integrated digital experience.

 

The digitalisation project developed by Ubiwhere for ANIMARIS represents a decisive step towards modernising maritime tourism in Ria Formosa, combining technology, data, on-the-ground operations, and customer experience into a single, cohesive solution.
