Integrated digital platform for more efficient municipal governance in Valongo

The project aimed to deliver a comprehensive, reliable digital solution to the Municipality of Valongo to improve local governance and support data-driven decision-making. By meeting the defined technical and functional requirements, the platform enabled the monitoring and coordination of multiple municipal systems and services, while simultaneously promoting more effective interdepartmental collaboration.

The implemented solution integrated data from a wide range of sources, providing a unified view of municipal operations. This approach enabled more informed decisions, aligned with the community’s specific needs, and strengthened the municipality’s territorial management capacity.

Built on Ubiwhere’s Urban Platform, the project adopted a web-based architecture with API integration to ensure secure, efficient communication across heterogeneous systems. Data from sensors, digital platforms and third-party applications were also harmonised, resulting in centralised, standardised and easily accessible information for all relevant municipal services.

 

Throughout the project, advanced data visualisation models were adopted and validated, enabling municipal decision-makers to access information in real time to support sustainable decision-making. The platform also fostered closer collaboration between departments, reinforcing internal communication and organisational efficiency.

 

The platform integrates several key verticals for urban management, namely mobility, including information on bus stops and services, as well as the monitoring of electric vehicle charging points.
