Technological refurbishment of the Castelo Branco Transport Coordination Centre

The technological refurbishment project of the Castelo Branco Transport Coordination Centre aimed to modernise the existing infrastructure, strengthening operational efficiency and enhancing the user experience.

This intervention addressed the need to optimise access management, service organisation, and the provision of clear, up-to-date information to passengers, in a context of growing demand for more efficient and sustainable mobility solutions.

The refurbishment enabled the implementation of access control mechanisms for authorised vehicles, ensuring correct routing to the appropriate passenger pick-up and drop-off areas. As part of the works, a central management platform was developed to coordinate all systems and operations of the Transport Coordination Centre, along with a mobile application that enables citizens to easily access information on available services. To ensure service continuity, two control panels were also implemented to provide voice communication in the event of system failures.

In addition, information displays were installed: one in the waiting area to present services, timetables and boarding bays, and ten displays at the boarding bays, each dedicated to its respective bay, significantly improving passenger guidance and flow.

The technological refurbishment of the Castelo Branco Transport Coordination Centre, carried out by Ubiwhere, made a decisive contribution to increasing public transport use, strengthening user confidence in the system, and supporting a more efficient, environmentally sustainable mobility model.
